It’s a quality Trek flick. The only real misstep is dialing the climactic action scenes up a couple notches too high in ridiculousness.
There's a lot I love about Star Trek Beyond. For me, it starts with how it's the only time in the trilogy I watch Kirk and feel at ease. In the first two, it's hard to put your full faith in that guy. Here, he's the Captain I can and would follow. Man, I wish Chris Pine got to play Kirk in his 40s.

Does anyone have a particular LOTR audiobook recording they enjoy? I’m having trouble with the Andy Serkis one. He’s great, of course, I just don’t personally care for his Gandalf voice. Which seems like it’ll be a big deal.

Pluribus is fascinating and excellent. Try to go into the pilot knowing nothing about it. Definitely don’t watch a trailer. If you know the premise the pilot might be a drag. If you don’t, it’s engaging and kinda terrifying.

Just walked into the symphony hall for the Oregon Symphony with The Decemberists. Two thoughts.
1. The crowd is incredibly strong with gen X and elder Millenials.
2. I’m excited for a rock (adjacent) concert where the expectation is to sit the whole time and applaud politely between numbers.
