I’m referring to soup in a general sense. Warm. Delicious. Soup. And maybe there’s some crusty bread on the side—not the refined white bread that was once exclusively enjoyed by royalty, but the rustic, grainy peasant bread royals would not touch but semi-affluent millennials turn into a personality

Words that sound like a compliment in the July heat land with a thud in November. No more sir. No more daddy. No more saying what you’re gonna do to me. The buttons are going to maintain their current state of tightness. It would be foolish to try to loosen them up. Just make soup.

I’m in a similar boat. I think I’m only gonna put forth the energy for actual musicians going forth. No more screaming young people. Gimme an acoustic show. I want to be surrounded by quietly appreciative lesbians and other NPR listeners.

This! Ribbing people is only playful and fun if you have a relationship with them. I feel like most people understand this. The issue is that social media has created so many one-sided dynamics where people feel like they actually know someone to whom they are a total stranger.
