wish i could accurately convey the panic direct service providers are having to navigate as this administration continues to attack our most vulnerable community members.

this part.
"There are good, specific use cases for AI in history" fuck off. No historical work is so important that we need to pave over ecosystems near Black and brown neighborhoods for data centers that drain the local water supply. Just bc you say you're using it ethically doesn't mean you actually are.

History requires deep, extensive research a lot of that research will end up not being directly relevant. You won't know that until you get in it. Research isn't just pulling a doc with all the answers, it's finding connections, it's understanding what's *not* being said, it's knowing context.

I know this feels right (and flattering). But that man doesn’t hate smart people. He hates people who won’t do what he wants. Smart people comply all the time.

“This is a generous construction of the defendant’s argument.” I cannot even begin to explain how incredible and depressing it is to know this sentence is in reference to the current government.
/2 And note how clearly this judge says “the administration is full of shit on their racial discrimination argument and they know they are full of shit.”

It’s crucial to keep emphasizing that these EOs were lawless. There was never a plausible argument they were constitutional. This administration has nothing but contempt for the constitution and the rule of law.

I think the inescapable conclusion here is “he hasn’t read this book but he does know what puppy play is,” believe me I’d love to come up with a different plausible interpretation
Gorsuch read Pride Puppy and he thinks it's about a sex worker who is into leather.

lmao

so word on the street is that DOGE wants to embed groups within each NGO awarded federal funding to assess their utility. Vera - a DOJ OVC funded org has had their funding cut off without any warning or explanation.

Gosh, very difficult legal question, is it "facilitating" someone's return when you're paying another country to detain them?
Van Hollen says that he asked the VP of El Salvador why his government continues to hold Abrego Garcia even though he’s not charged with any crime and there’s no evidence that he’s MS-13.

“His answer was that the Trump administration is paying the government of El Salvador to keep him at CECOT”

I've managed to live without Amazon. I used to get Amazon deliveries practically daily. Now I just plan ahead a little and order stuff direct. I realized I put up with a lot of shitty products I don't even really need just because they were shipped to me quickly
And that's the real threat of a boycott for a big company. Once people realize other options exist, some might be better, closer, have friendly staff or better parking. Then you are toast.

something i am not seeing in the pro bono/biglaw discourse is the risk this poses to direct service projects that rely on pro bono legal work access for underserved clients desperately needing these services.

what replaces due process under fascism is the assurance of protection for favored groups. even though it’s precarious, a lot of people feel just as protected under that framework as they do under one with due process
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

what the general public truly fails to appreciate is that this effectively happens every day to our most vulnerable community members, particularly Black people and people experiencing homelessness or a mental health crisis. come to a day of hearings in any county court room. see the process.
No matter your station in life, there is astoundingly little separating you from those men in that cage behind Kristi Noem. No charges, no attorneys, no hearings, no trial. Just conjecture and brute force could be enough to justify completely dehumanizing you, too.

Here’s my ask of you today:

I want you to engage with EVERY article/post you see about Signalgate. Like, comment, share. Every one.

The reason why the media kept talking about Hillary’s emails was because every story & post about it got massive engagement.

Sound good?
