I follow people who post in different areas but my posts will almost entirely be about cricket, and mostly twentieth century cricket. Mutuals who are not interested in cricket may find my feed a waste of time.
Singh's third over, turning point of the series. Dropped at 15* A huge 'what if'.

Cook hadn't reached 30 in 9 inns. Whitewashed in Aus, lost to SL at home, lost to India at Lord's. Not inconceivable that he would have been replaced if he failed. He scored 95 and England won with time to spare.

This is 1861 - a hit that landed on the ladies tent fetched 3, but other shots (which also sound like boundary hits) scored 4.

This is a big match from 1863, Notts v Kent starting on June 11. They clearly had 3 runs for boundaries. You have mentioned an 1864 match between these teams for a similar thing but this at least preceded it.

Fast and efficient jackfruit plucking. 43 were dropped while I was there and each one landed on the sack.

During random browsing, noticed that PW-T gives the middle name 'Surendrakumar' for SN Banerjee. So checked the Who's Who and that too has this middle name (plus "also known as Shute Nath" in brackets). Can't remember seeing this anywhere in Indian sources, or CI/CA.

Indira Gandhi as Statue of Liberty. Late 1971 or early 1972, around the time of the liberation of Bangladesh. RK Laxman cartoon.

Wonder what happened there that Channel 9 couldn't get their own highlights for a day of the 1986-87 SCG Test

The superiority of the opponents was so evident that this team gave up "by knocking up the remainder of their wickets"

Was looking for some very random stuff and found this.

The young man might have already had an artificial limb. Otherwise, doesn't make sense.

Just to be clear, both versions (10WI and 10WM) appear in newspapers. 10WI is not necessarily incorrect. But some of the better sources like the Cricket Magazine say 10 wickets in the match.
