Arctic sea-ice extent current ranks 2nd lowest for the day since record began in 1979, and are on track to set a new daily record low in the next few days.

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? The Climate 8-ball says there's no escape from reality.

This year's #Arctic sea ice freeze-up is clearly the latest on record for the Baffin Bay region (located between Greenland and the Canadian Arctic Archipelago). The extent of ice cover is a record low for the date there.

Unbelievable anomalies... +2°C since the 1960s! 😱

As a result Damavand (5609 m asl) was snow free for 1st time this summer and chronic drought is threatening millions of people! 💧

The ice flow velocity (up to 2 m/day!) combined with the incredible rate of retreat of the front (900 m over this period!) is simply mind-boggling! 🤪

The final agreement from COP30 doesn't mention fossil fuels, argues we are only 80% of the way to 1.5C, sets out an insane timeline of GHG reductions, and mentions 'a rapidly narrowing window.'

The COP is dead and burried. And COP30 was the final nail.
