I.T. guy, writer, grumpy archivist, actually has a history hat

May ramble about history, railroads, greyhounds, kayaks, science, fiction, gaming, and combinations thereof.
I am so, so sorry to hear it.

You go out that window with Andy Jackson’s knowledge and the ghost of Daniel Smith will scare him so bad he’ll run to Kentucky for a while.

“Carter, where do you find ideas for fiction?”

I dunno, mostly I just stay about five or ten paces behind Betsy and pick up anything she drops.“

Also, "WTLX 89.5 FM [was] the voice of Transylvania, and the flagship station for all of your Pioneer Basketball action!" From high atop Clay-Davis (no, really) Hall, we transmitted with a might five watts of power. Depending on weather, we could be heard in nearly 4 out of 5 dorm buildings.

Ultimately the answer is Nightswimming, but the whole album is an snapshot to a different time, a different life almost. This record still holds up.

Anyway, I remember putting the CD on, locking the studio as I left, and my co-host and I hustling ambling across campus. We eventually returned to the dorms, and I dropped a cassette into my radio and recorded the album as it repeated. I played that tape a lot over the next few years.

In a wiser life, we would have been smart enough to refer to the overnight "DJ" as Otto the Autopilot. We were well-meaning, not good, and such witticism was still years in my future.

Preordered! Been trying to figure out what to do with the research I'm doing that doesn't fit in any of the display cases at the museum, so to speak. Hope this helps show me a path!

I’m here for all Baxter based shenanigans.

Among those things is that the TC probably would have gone out of business faster, and Baxter, TN would still be called Mine Lick. but still, there’s some amazing stuff out there, go visit an archive and find it!

Also good luck on edits! This is always the phase where I think “oh, maybe I’ll just never write again,” which, fortunately, usually passes.
