If the opinion polls show that public opinion continues its gradual but relentless shift in favour of rejoining the EU, then surely smaller steps, at least, should be easier.

It was particularly moving to hear from survivors - a reminder of the need for change. There are 13,000+ living in Britain.

Thanks to everyone who came and to Ailbhe Rea for chairing.

Good piece. ⬇️

We're often taken aback when women, minorities or socialists back Fascist parties.

But if we're going to meet the challenge of the far-right, we need to understand its ability to reach unlikely parts of the public.

In the 1930s, that included a number of militant suffragettes. [1/9]
How did fascist movements in 1930s Britain appeal to women and even former suffragettes?

Martin Durham, in a rediscovered talk given to History Workshop in 1983, and Daniel Jones (@narson.bsky.social) on the continued resonance of these insights in today's world.

💥 THIS IS MASSIVE 💥

No other policy or infrastructure project estimates this level of GDP growth over the same time period.

It's within Gvt Red Lines.

It's popular with voters, especially Con -> Lab switchers in 2024.

Those who don't support beneficial alignment are the anti growth coalition.
🚨 NEW RESEARCH: This is what the Government's been missing in its plan for growth.A boost to UK GDP of up to 2.2%.How can they get it?With deep alignment with the EU on goods & services. Which would be firmly within Starmer’s Brexit ‘red lines’. 1/6
