Being visible is harder these days. Room has been made for stigma, suspicion, hate. I have experienced it in places I did not expect, places I thought wouldn’t, couldn’t.
I’m visible but thinking of those who are battling others’ expectations, bigotry and choosing to be safe.

If players are taking controversial stands on social issues because of their religion, I expect them to be consistent. Football is a sport full of more problematic topics - gambling, alcohol, human rights etc. Without their objections to those issues, religion just sounds like an excuse.
