People acting like James Bond dying in the last film is some giant hurdle for storytelling are exhausting. Bond continuity is amorphous at best. He’s an archetype like Sherlock Holmes and Dracula. You can do whatever as long as the main ingredients are in there.

Finally was able to see Frankenstein. I really liked it. It isn’t the book but somehow is the amalgam of *all* Frankensteins. Shades of Shelley, Whale, Hammer, Branagh. Wrightson and Grimly are in there. It reminded me of the Fisher-Price Marvel comic adaptation I was obsessed with as a kid.

I read Frankenstein a month before my son was born (unplanned). I think it should be required reading for all new parents as it teaches responsibility to and for one’s creations. 1/

Every goddamn time a republican wins the media posts a series of pieces about how the Dems need to do some soul searching about why they lost. When a Democrat wins, there’s never a fucking whisper about what can be learned from this moment.
Starting tomorrow, every major news organization will be publishing thinkpieces saying that Zohran Mamdani's victory isn't signficant, and even more crucially, that it couldn't happen in a city like yours.
