Finally got a web version of my silly little game jam game about a monkey that commits corporate espionage. It's short, but it's the first game I have ever finished and released, me and my buddy did it in a week, and I am proud of that. Give it a quick play!

I’ve really been enjoying using #Löve for game dev lately. Missing some static typing in Lua (I’ve played with Teal, and I’m not sure it’s for me yet), but it’s worth it for tables. Tables are ridiculous. #gamedev

Me and a friend completed our first game jam (and first game in general) last week, and it was great! A lot more work than I was expecting, and I wish I had more time to iterate on the map, but I'm very proud of what we did. Check it out! tchimes.itch.io/monkey-busin... #lovejam2025

Watching Winnie the Pooh with the family this morning, and it occurred to me that I would love to hear Matt Berry voice Owl.

Finished reading Absolution from @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social last night. Overall, I loved it! I also started the Southern Reach series in November (just found out about them!), so it was fun to read them all back to back. I’m looking forward to reading them again, which is atypical for me.

Struggled to find something to listen to today (a problem I seem to have with the infinite options presented by streaming services), and landed on Seven Impale. What a fantastic choice.

If you like prog rock like Haken, but want more King Crimson/Van Der Graaf Generator, check out Seven Impale!

I’ve been wanting to make a video game for years, but I’ve always been terrible at art. I can do music, audio, and programming, but art has eluded me. Well recently, I decided to give pixel art a shot. I made this soccer ball yesterday, and I’m pretty proud of it.

Played Outer Wilds (and the DLC) about 2 months ago, and I can’t stop thinking about it. One of the few games that I wish I could forget everything and play for the first time again.

Oh man, the new Opeth single is awesome! So far it sounds like a great combination of their last album, but with some small things from the growly days (although the new single has no growls). Really excited about their album.

Hey game dev and #gameaudio folks, got a question. My current full time job is not in games (or creative audio), but I’m thinking about taking the leap, specifically to be a technical sound designer. I already have audio, programming, and IT chops, but no shipped games. What should I be focusing on?

Is there any kind of prog rock or prog metal community here? I found the death metal feed, which is still awesome, but not much about prog metal #progmetal #progrock

Did the topsters game list. This was a little more difficult than I expected, because I ran out of space faster than I thought I would. Also I probably could have just filled this up with Mega Man.

New amp day! This is especially exciting, because even though I’ve been playing guitar for years, I’ve only been using plugins. So nice to finally have an amp. Also now I can actually jam with people!

On the music front, today I listened to a song I wrote about a year ago. There’s some parts in the middle that don’t make much sense and need reworked, but some chords and the key change at the end just sound so damn cool. Hoping to work on that one again soon. It’s definitely worth sharing.

I fixed the insane difficulty spike in my flappy bird game, but now whenever the player collides with a pipe, they started flying around the level at Mach 5 😂. I wish I could post a video of it.

I know it doesn’t matter much, because the game should end after that, but would still like to fix it.

Working on recreating Flappy Bird as a way of building up my game dev chops. I suck at art, so I’ll be generating all of the assets by using rectangles. Pretty excited so far, but I think I accidentally made something hilariously impossible. Using MonoGame.

I want to say something before this next post: I program as a hobby. It's very much a side thing for me. My background is largely based in being a sound engineer and a musician...

I go back to MonoGame for my game dev tinkering about once a year (at least that's been the trend for a few years now), and I remember how much I enjoy it. I really need to just stick with it.
