Tell me how cleaning up Agent Orange in Vietnam, a legacy of the US war that has lingered for 50 years and caused hundreds of thousands of disabilities and health problems, is waste, fraud and abuse? Because that program, like all others of USAID, is now halted www.nytimes.com/2025/02/17/w...
Trump’s USAID Cuts Halt Agent Orange Victims Program in Vietnam (Gift Article)
Fifty years after the Vietnam War ended, President Trump’s gutting of foreign aid has halted American efforts to address a toxic legacy and build a strategic partnership.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Love a kissing canopy, *but* the uniformity (yes, part of what makes these so lovely!) is a dangerous move for resilient urban forests.

Yes to canopy cover, but let’s make sure we diversify our species and functional groups!

I discuss this example often when lecturing to designers and architects
Did you know that a “kissing canopy” is when trees above a street or sidewalk grow to touch overhead, creating a cool, shaded place? Despite it being colder and darker these days, let’s remember the beauty and value that #StreetTrees add to our cities, IF we design for them. #KissingCanopies
