One of the very first things did at Columbia (literally in my first few weeks there) was to organize a protest against a discriminatory (anti-LGBTQ) policy. It was a resounding success.

I'm genuinely terrified to think of what would happen if I were a student today and tried the same thing.

Remember: you have no idea what risks your fellow protestors are taking by being there. Their family, friends, students, colleagues could be the ones that pose a risk — should they see their face in a protest photo. Protect one another! We are all we have.
