I went through and counted ads, and 54% of my Pinterest feed is advertising. Like, WTF. 😕

While I am all for more welcoming and accessible #starbucks cafes (as mentioned in the news today), what truly would make these locations more welcoming and accessible is coffee that doesn’t cost as much as a pint of craft beer.

With all of the ways some D&D enthusiasts chase the hobby seeking ways to make it a side hustle or career out of their passion, I’m surprised nobody has developed a Dungeon Master certification course by now. The hobby needs more DMs and less accoutrements.

So much more interesting than a Nothic. How come this one never made into a Monster Manual for any edition of #D&D over the years?

On Gnomengarde: "the gnomes craft minor magic items and useful, nonmagical inventions to pass the time. In these endeavors, their failures outnumber their successes."

In DoIP, we see the successes. What might the failures look like? So glad you asked!

“Their Failures Outnumber Their Successes”
If you get literal with the text in Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak, it can lead you to some fun places. For instance, the background section of El Mop states “Few survive…

My cat Bofur acts like I am the Dark Lord of his domain, retreating from me at my every approach.

That is, until I’m the first one of the family home after a weekend away. Then, he can’t get enough of me, at least until the others are home. Jerk.

Is the party about to go full murder hobo at the tavern? Don’t want to run that kind of #D&D game?

Deploy the Mobs mechanic from the DMG.

🪑🍺🍽️🦿💩🧅🍳🫙🪕🎳🚬🏺🧹🪣 all make fine improvised missile weapons certain to hit the hobos x-amount of times each round as the crowd fights back.

Fook around. Find out.

Need an honest answer: if I blow my nose in public, and I issue forth a *HONK!* while doing so, is that viewed by others as just farting through my nose? This only just occurred to me today.

If you want a little Walking Dead in your #dungeonsanddragons game, I'd recommend ghouls over zombies.

Ghouls are gnarly and, IMHO, fit the horror of the zombie apocalypse trope so much better.

No, really. Ghouls are totally gnarly. And in thinking through Sister Garaele’s side quest this week, I came to the realization that I haven’t leaned into their true nature on the occas…

Villain fails his CHA (Deception) check? Or perhaps the character nails their WIS (Insight) check. Regardless, pulling aside a player w/ the successful roll to tell them "you notice a single drop of sweat run down his face" seems much more interesting than "he may be lying to you."

I began carrying dice every day as part of my spiritual journey. I saw a video about synchronicity and thought it might be fun. I still owned a heap of dice. Then the idea occurred to me, I could literally pick up a game of any given TTRPG on zero notice. Cool!

As both DM & player, I had been using languages in Dungeons & Dragons all wrong. Character language choices have utility for unlocking clues during exploration encounters, which is much more useful than telling mom jokes in another language. #d&d #dnd #ttrpg

Best Language Choices Along The Triboar Trail

The target of both Vicious Mockery and Aid. Don’t see that in the wild every day. The bard is busy!

The most frustrating thing about playing a bard in any #D&D / #ttrpg game is the lack of tools to play one narratively.

Vicious Mockery is meat & potatoes bard fare, but there's no list of *truly* good BURNS out there.

Bards are singers, but there are no songs to sing in most fantasy settings 🧵1/4

Really enjoy all of the #D&D and #ttrpg art from indie artists that come across my feed.

Artists: have you ever considered making your art available for game designers to license on sites like @dmsguild.com or @drivethrurpg.com under their creator resources? Homebrew designers always need more art!

For those about to play some #D&D this weekend, remember two things:

1. You’re adventurers. Be adventurous!

2. Bad decisions make good stories. At least that’s been my experience. 🤠

Do the players in your #D&D (or any #ttrpg) game understand what NPCs in your world will tolerate?

Has the would-be murder hobo ever come across a gallows tree with a corpse hanging from its branch, swaying in the wind above a sign staked into the ground with “MURDERER” scrawled across it?
