The way I've seen many people (mostly from Smosh fan circles) talk about the situation with Saige has focused on the cheating allegations.
Let me be clear: that is NOT what makes this situation so damning.

When a white woman falsifies evidence and lies using the legal system to threaten, silence, and intimidate someone of color they have wronged, it's rather misogynistic to call it "petty high school BS."

I wonder how much of the sudden acceptance of age verification would have been avoided if major digital platforms hadn't monopolized access, eroded privacy to the point that one more layer of surveillance feels minor, and stewarded their spaces so poorly that nobody sees value for children in them
