Found on ramble. A fine example of a little free library.

Writing Tip:
Take a look over your work and search for 'bland words'. Those words that tell you things, but have no flavor. Then, replace them with something fun. Why would you want your character to 'sit' when they could lean, lounge, flop down or perch?

You know something pretty bad has happened to a British person when they describe their day as “ups and downs”

Writing Tip:
While editing, it's often a good idea to take a loose piece of paper and write down any words you repeat often. Then do a CTRL-F search to see if you use that word often. You'd be surprised how often we use that word without realizing it. Pretty often. 😜

Word of day is ‘unasinous’ (17th century): united in stupidity.

A riff on ‘unanimous’: which comes from the Latin for ‘one mind’. ‘Unasinous’ means ‘one ass’.

Writing Tip:
Get used to reading the same material over and over again without zoning out. Most people don't even realize we're zoning out when we get bored reading something. If you zone out while you're editing, you'll miss mistakes while thinking it's been covered.

Writing Tip:
You have access to more than just words when it comes to your writing tools. Font, size, paragraph style, formatting. You can play with them to customize your literary journey. Just make sure that if you make stylistic changes, it's for a reason.

Writing Tip:
The quality of your first draft does not represent the quality of the finished product. Far from it. Most first drafts are an incomprehensible mess. Quality shines in editing. Even a poorly-written draft can be polished into a diamond over time.
