When conferences and construction projects were happening & ppl were employed, sex workers got work.
When the stop work order came, sex workers were also largely ordered to stop working

I’ve heard this, and even gotten good BBQ etc at gas stations in the house, but it was still paper plates and styrofoam cups. In urban gas stations in Kampala, it’s cloth napkins, three waiter service bsky.app/profile/kate...

In South Africa, I learned that the mall is where it’s at for groceries and being a scenester for Africans. In Uganda, I learned that the Shell station is where it’s at for really good, reasonably priced dining (+ groceries).

Let me revise - I do not think you are wrong about the Anglophone world, Evangelicals, etc...the Louvre probably is news in Francophone Africa. But it is interesting that EVERYWHERE I go, Charlie Kirk's name is known...even in an HIV clinic 20 miles from Kampala on a dirt road w no street lights!

Wow. So is it that the evangelicals have a strong media presences in Uganda maybe? Aren’t they behind the intense push against LGBTQ people there?

He has been the most stalwart beast of a supporter of students against Canary Mission since at least 2014. J have no idea what you’re talking about, But I think you’re confused if you think he or Coates owe you an apology on Palestine

Wtf are you talking about it? He’s been defending students against Canary Mission for ten years, ran my defense for more than a year. He has nothing to apologize to you or anyone else. Neither does Coates.

One of the things I find interesting about Mamdani is he can’t ever be president. Thus, he can’t be groomed onto the imperial pathway and into possible presidential aspirations like Obama, AOC, Bernie etc. And this could keep a more radical politics in his life. bsky.app/profile/orga...
I think the pressure of an Obama affiliation would be a constraint on Mamdani’s leadership. I fear that he is going to be pressured by Sanders to endorse Platner — and if that happens the screaming you hear is from my apartment in midcoast Maine.
