Philosophy is about anti-bullshitting.
My ideal social media platform would be an all-in-one, decentralized, and truly publicly funded service. Private media should not exist, as we can never be sure of the power dynamics behind these outlets.

I feel there is a significant bias between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) individuals and those in the humanities in China.

How will AI agents impact democratic values? Democracies are—for independent reasons—already under acute pressure. Since WWII Moore's Law and democratisation went up and to the right in lockstep. Not any more.

Politicians with babies used to be a big thing. Who would put their babies in the arms of Trump, Musk, RFK, or Vance? I can’t even remember seeing any of them smile. As distinct from gloat.

New Substack post!

Why do so many people accept evidence of widespread political ignorance but deny that we can determine who is politically knowledgeable? I look at some explanations.

Can personal integrity be vouched for as evidence in an epistemological sense?

For a belief to be justified as knowledge does not require that belief be justified to the one who holds that belief, but that belief satisfies the circumstances.

A better example: A president is making an important decision on controlling a pandemic. There are two potential solutions. The chance of the first solution is small, but once it succeeds, 99% of people will be saved. The second one is rather is depoly, but only 50% of people will be saved.
This might not be a good example because for a person who suffers from the disease, it is epistemology right for him to believe that he has a chance to be cured. By believing this, it could improve the chance of living.

You can’t take seriously anyone who says he wants to restore Christian values AND the warrior ethic. Or at least you can’t take what he says seriously.

What disappointed me most is not that some could hold a false belief, but that false belief is challenged and one is not willing to change its false belief no matter how ridiculous of this belief.
