Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.

-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.

Random Thoughts Found:

The “American” dream is built for those who can afford the lie while climbing on the necks of others deemed as lesser than. For what greater power there is in blaming the “others” for our misfortunes while the rich further line their pockets.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Just because someone looks like a newscaster doesn’t mean they’re a journalist. Responsible journalism is based on facts, not opinions disguised as news. In these turbulent Trump times, truth matters more than ever. Question sources, check facts, and don’t let bad actors shape your reality.

I hate owning a car. I need to find somewhere that is more pedestrian and mass transit friendly. Any suggestions?

The Trump admin has ordered all federal DEI workers to be placed on leave, with plans to end programs by Jan. 31. DEI websites & social media to shut down. WH says it’s a move toward “merit-based” governance. Is merit-based the new word for white?
All Federal DEI Employees Will Have Email Access Suspended And Be Placed On Leave Wednesday
By close of business Wednesday, every single diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) office within the federal government will shut down; email accounts will be suspended.

Remember who is on which side of history and how they treat others. Ex: Corporations changing policies and not supporting minorities

And remember everyday you vote with your dollar and attention.

One man had a dream of unity, justice & equality. Another dreams of being seen as something he’s not. On this day, let’s honor the legacy of MLK Jr.—a leader who built bridges, not walls. Choose light over noise, hope over chaos. They can’t stop the dream when we stand together.

Do you have a library card?

Consider getting one even if you don’t plan to use it. It will help support your library. Libraries are more than just books. They help support communities and can have a lot to offer. We all need to rebuild community.

Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books!
