Under Biden, the IRS launched a program for people to file their taxes FOR FREE (finally!)

Well, Trump ended it because TurboTax donated $1 million to him. This White House is just one big grift while the rest of us pay more for everything.
The IRS is reportedly not offering its Direct File program next year. Here’s a look back at how TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free:

Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free
Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

The Trump administration just ordered two Gulfstream luxury private jets for Kristi Noem at a cost of over $172 million.

This comes as Americans can barely afford groceries.

ICE drag girl out of car & body slam her to ground—then pin her face down & kneel on her neck.

"I'm 15!" she cries out. "I'm not resisting!"

Agents have now asked multiple area housing associations to unlock main doors—so they can go door to door.

When a corporation surveils us in violation of a data privacy law, we suffer a real privacy harm. That should be enough to have our day in court. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
Privacy Harm Is Harm
Every day, corporations track our movements through license plate scanners, building detailed profiles of where we go, when we go there, and who we visit. When they do this to us in violation of data

The Department of Defense is delaying cleanups of forever chemicals at nearly 140 military sites – in some cases, by more than a decade.

Meanwhile, the PFAS industry has spent over $70 million lobbying the Trump administration in just the first half of 2025.

Always follow the money.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

Fantastic article, well worth your attention.
When @wired asked me to look at Silicon Valley in the age of Trump, I saw the crash of the idealism that originally drew founders--and me--to the tech revolution. Selling out the dream will not serve those moguls (or us) well. www.wired.com/story/silico...

Tech got what it wanted by electing Trump. A year later, it looks more like a suicide pact.

Homan accepted the $$ in CASH "after indicating he could help the agents—who were posing as business execs—win gov't contracts in a second Trump administration."

This level of corruption makes it absolutely unfathomable that these thugs could ever relinquish power.

It's a tsunami of criminality.
🚨BREAKING: In an undercover operation last year, the FBI recorded Tom Homan, now the White House border czar, accepting $50,000 in cash after indicating he could help the agents — who were posing as business executives — win government contracts in a second Trump administration.
Tom Homan was investigated for accepting $50,000 from undercover FBI agents. Trump's DOJ shut it down.
The FBI and Justice officials closed the investigation, which a Justice Department appointee had called a “deep state” probe in early 2025.

The Enshittification of American Power
