And the prof speaking to the journalist was concerned about being denounced by colleagues. A good reminder that compliance w fascism is always dependent on local enforcement by neighbors, coworkers, acquaintances.

I am genuinely shocked at this, this is such blatant manipulation of the data for ideological purposes, and I would have thought that the @economist.com would be above that, or at least competent at doing it.

Also amazing to see here how class solidarity works. Capitalists will always prefer fascism over politics that would threaten the hierarchies & structures that create the expendable populations necessary for capitalism. At least we are learning once again a lot abt who we can trust & who not

To be fair, it *is* really difficult when what’s at stake is class solidarity. — I always think a good heuristic for oneself is: With whom am I expressing solidarity and with whom am I canceling solidarity in saying what I am about to say?
