I know even less about bourbon than you, but that is awesome. I love that they named it that 🥃🐎

I don’t write much about Pete since I’m usually working in the Get Back era, but Pete’s among the main figures in last year’s deep dive into one of Astrid’s iconic photos of the Beatles in Hamburg. Ripped from the pages of TEATLES and Roller Coaster! magazine: 🎢 theymaybeparted.com/2024/10/28/t...
TMBP Extra: Get to the bottom
This article originally appeared in Issue 4 of the new TEATLES magazine, published October 2024, and was written by Dan Rivkin (me, They May Be Parted) and Dianne Ketler (@wouldride on IG). Check i…

Naturally, when I had the chance to speak to Pete last year, I asked him if he had seen Get Back

Insane they did that on the final version. It never made sense to me that *THE BEATLES* outsourced harmonies.

orst photo of the Beatles ever, yes? Almost looks like AI, decades before it existed.

I've written here and there about Anthology -- several Get Back session-era tracks were first formally released on it -- but in advance of "Now and Then" I dug into "Leave My Kitten Alone," what was considered in its time likewise the "last Beatles song." theymaybeparted.com/2023/11/02/t...
TMBP Extra: Every now and then
The Last Beatles Song. Let’s be a little more accurate and say with several qualifiers that it’s the last, new officially released Beatles song. The diehards already knew it from bootle…

I guess there's a 9.1% chance I got it at the Wiz that was just up Rt. 59 from Tower. If I did, I must have been sold on the fact it was "the Most Important Event In Modern Musical History."

(Re last post, it was actually a newspaper clipping from May 8, 1978, not August)

(Adding this to main thread so it doesn’t get lost.) Gilson also tried out for Wings. Here he is talking about it in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Aug 78.

“I’m not in the slightest bit disappointed that I didn’t get to join Wings. I don’t rate McCartney’s music very much these days, anyway.”

Gilson also appeared in a clip for George Harrison’s cover of “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” (on double bass) but didnt actually perform anything on the recording. youtu.be/iMJEtLjnO7E?...

If you’d like a little Beatles link, and who doesn’t, it was Gilson who played drums on the final recording made by George Harrison, “Horse to the Water,” which appeared on a Jools LP. George recorded his part separately, though, less than 2 months before he died. youtu.be/u3-YJ-nDcKk?...

Thanks, Tim!! The whole December 68 sequence of posts was just so much fun to research and put together, taking it from the context of looking backward from 69 (vs forward from earlier in 68). It definitely helped me view Jan 69 thru a different lens
