Yep
It is wild—and crushingly sad—how quickly corporate America has embraced the most basic pay-to-play business practices ahead of the incoming Trump admin. What would considered illegal overseas under the Foreign Corruption Practices Act is now de rigueur here at home. www.wsj.com/business/med...

This woman is a sociopath
Kristi Noem staunchly stands behind Trump & his GOP’s vicious threats to withhold disaster relief from victims of wildfires in Southern California—playing politics w/ people’s suffering.

Noem’s robotic response to Sen. Bluementhol: “Leadership has consequences.”

LEADERSHIP HAS RESPONSIBILITIES.
This is the person that would will be in charge of FEMA.....

Sen. Blumenthal: You would agree with me that withholding disaster relief by President Trump is a violation of his duty and law.

Kristi Noem: Elections have consequences...

Thank goodness that other countries are studying this and taking action to resist it. The US will be in the Dark Ages for a while, but the torch will stay lit and we can adopt best practices when the MAGA fever finally breaks. We’re gonna have to go through some things but it will, eventually.
I’m glad that academics in other countries are studying misinformation and disinformation because Trump will shut down much of this research in the US. 1/
Misinformation isn't random - it's strategic. 🧵

In the first cross-national comparative study, we examine 32M tweets from politicians.

We find that misinformation is not a general condition: it is driven by populist radical right parties.

…a handful of ultra rich white men with the emotional maturity and resentment of a teenage boy who can’t get a date…
President Biden was right to warn us about the #TechIndustrialComplex Oligarchy that has seemingly taken control of our country, a handful of ultra rich white men who are getting richer and richer with every hour that passes

The most ignorant Americans elected Trump and he’s predictably choosing the stupidest and most corrupt cabinet members. I cannot fathom how low we will sink in decency, competence, integrity and reputation. It’s a fucking tragedy.
i am watching clips from the hegseth hearings and it is a goddamn insult
to this country that this chucklefuck was even nominated

The issue isn’t whether Universal Healthcare can work. The issue is how do we get from where we are to UH. It took Canada decades and it has a ton of limits we might not like.

The point being we have to find a starting point that can grow it into what works here

Exhibit 5,793,632 for why I don’t want to live in a world represented by Fox News.

It’s all zero sum. You can’t have a choir, or celebrate freedom, or help the homeless at the same time you fight fires. These are small amounts in a HUGE budget.

Just deplorable culture war BS. Garbage.
This is what Fox News chooses to speak about. Nitpicking at diversity & LGBTQ+ line items in the budget? Where the HELL is the information about how to help these people majorly impacted by the LA fires? Where’s the resources? Where are the emergency numbers? Any updated info? Absolutely sickening.🤬

Kirk: Left wing Dems living in LA deserve to have their homes destroyed because they voted for Biden and Harris.

But boy - anyone that thinks Republican governance is more competent is insane. TX can’t keep the lights on. People are sicker, poorer, hungrier and more ignorant.
Charlie Kirk seems to think lesbians are responsible for the LA Fires. I dissent.

Maybe Trump isn’t a genius engineer or businessman
Outside Corpus Christi, Texas—where water is so scarce they hand out shower timers at HS football games—Elon Musk is building a $1B lithium refinery that could need 8 million gallons of water a day.

Tesla is testing the plant, but they still don’t have the water to run it. What gives?!

I am overwhelmed by disappointment and a feeling of desperate urgency. Instead of running toward this existential problem and applying our best minds to solve it - the stupidest, most cynical and greedy people are in charge and are doing the opposite. Our descendants will curse us.
Appropriate mix of headlines. Climate change accelerates, while the business world, under pressure from US conservatives, abandons any attempt to stop it

Wonder how Hegseth is gonna deal with this reality
Women "are less likely to have criminal records, accounting for just 30% of juvenile arrests, according to data from the Justice Department. They're also outpacing men in higher education, with nearly half of women aged 25 to 34 holding bachelor's degrees compared to 37% of men, according to Pew..."
The Army hitting its recruiting goals in 2024 was largely driven by women, as young men are increasingly uniquely unqualified for service

Truly the worst people in our country. I feel so embarrassed.
Nobody elected these clowns and they shouldn’t be going over to Greenland to discuss a hostile takeover.

Evangelical Christians view Trump as God’s chosen warrior. Yet he’s the embodiment of the anti-Christ. He elevates greed, lust, gluttony, vanity, cruelty and yet they pray for and enable his success.

He will bring so much needless suffering to so many. I weep.
it is so important to remember that IN THE MOMENT there was no one who thought jan. 6 was some innocent protest gone awry. everyone recognized it for what it was.
At the time, everyone, including Republicans, understood how bad it was. Then, brick by brick, they built a foundation of lies to justify doing what they know, deep down, to be wrong. Trump betrayed the country. And so do they.

People like Mike Johnson are living in a fantasy world constructed in their imaginations - designed to reinforce their worldview.

I prefer my leaders to live in the real world, confront facts and solve real problems.
Mike Johnson claimed yesterday that he was reading a prayer written by Thomas Jefferson.

Except it wasn't.

Historians who are familiar with it say it’s not accurate to attribute it to Jefferson or to suggest he recited it daily.

Clown. Show.

Why are Bezos, Zuckerberg, Musk, Pichai and Tim Cook visiting and giving money to Trump ?

Because they are in “The Race “ to become the dominant platform in the world.

Amazon/Anthropic vs FB/LLama vs Google/Gemini vs Twitter/Grok, vs IPhones/ChatGpt is the penultimate global power war ever.

It’s going to have to get much worse to break through the ignorance, greed, lack of empathy and bigotry.
Donald Trump is once again going to use the power of the Oval Office to enflame division, embolden bigotry & encourage violence.

We’ve seen this movie before folks.
It sure as shit did not end well.
How the actual fuck is it even possible that we have to endure this shit again.
