I had to correct my electric company last night. Someone forgot to correctly cast a variable in their script. I just got the follow-up "please disregard our oopsie" email. 😆🤓
Email exchange between my electric company and myself, where their code displayed my new account number as a rounded scientific notation due to the incorrect variable type being cast. My email to their support team reads as follows: "Fun fact, the new account numbers are being incorrectly displayed due to being too long for the variable type referenced. You should re-send the email with a proper variable type in the code - 'unsigned long long int', in this case - so we actually know what our new account numbers are. There are almost certainly rounding errors occurring...unless my new account number just so happens to be *exactly* 940003000000 (9.40003E+11). haha" The follow-up email where they acknowledged their error and asked everyone to disregard the previous email. Their email includes the following text: "We got too excited about the migration and we hit send too soon! Please disregard the email you recently received from us. We are working on getting you the right info."
