This episode is excellent, and after the 30 min mark, it starts weaving into the AI territory in productive ways.

YES! This is fundamental. It exposes a meaning issue. And while yes, students may still try to use AI to circumvent things we know are meaningful and they do not yet value, it does give us extra responsibility to articulate the meaning and purpose behind what we do.

And side note: it’s really shady to give students’ words to an LLM without their permission, if that’s part of what’s happening.

It’s sad then that some are jumping ahead without much thoughtful reflection it seems, bc you’re right: remove human at one end of communication and why expect it from the other end.

I found this an encouraging podcast you might like, and not mostly about AI: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

I hear a lot about grading with AI (which I oppose) but more often in classroom practice see engagement with feedback from AI. That’s not equal to human feedback, but also not equal to AI grading. So I wonder what’s most common in actual classrooms 🤔

I love this! We share things, and then they boomerang back to us with tweaks, improvements, new applications. Thanks for sharing this Marcus :) Glad it was meaningful for you and your students.

On Poetry Pauses I messed them up so badly and had to redo throughout 🥴😜 I foolishly thought I had it all right on the first draft! Hang in there ☺️
