Translator by day, nerd by night. Or something like that. Currently working on that anime with the long title! Opinions are my own. 翻訳家兼アニオタです。日本アニメをアメリカで配信するための英語字幕の翻訳をやっています。よろしくお願いします。
My fingers are crossed! I love this show!

Really?! That's such a bizarre choice. I definitely thought it was dictated by the Japanese side. But if it's not present in other language versions, then who knows? It's a shame because it really only made them sound weeby, imo. There are so many good ways it could have been translated.

Aw yeah! That’s great! Hope you enjoy it 😄

I’ve been looking for some new roasters to try over the holidays. Might try Onyx coffee lab

This isn’t just PR fluff, btw. It’s true. I know all the people from the video encoders to subtitlers and QC checkers. We are real and proud of the human touch we add to our work.

Absolutely. I think the problem is that some companies are trying to “sneak” it into the process unnoticed. That’s why they want translators to become editors to proof the AI’s output. Or they want an AI good enough to go undetected. It’s going to be harder for consumers to police this over time.

Funnily enough, I would say doujin are the things most in need of good localization to ensure an “enjoyable” experience 😆

Thankfully, the current consensus in my vicinity is that human-crafted localizations are more marketable and in demand than anything made with AI. That’s a direct result of the constant online backlash from consumers in the industry. Keep it up.
