Happy Halloween! My costume this year is Jinya, from Sword of the Demon Hunter! My wife sewed the kimono and haori, which turned out fantastic! She also helped with the mask and arm, which are homemade from thrift store stuff. It turned out awesome!! 😃

I’ve always had my qualms with the Hero Academia subs b/c they were overly literal, but I acknowledge it’s a valid approach that’s useful when English is the pivot language for dubs and whatnot. But there was an outright mistranslation this week, which is embarrassing for such a high profile show.

Y'all love Demon Girl, huh? Here's one of my favorite lines from the series. This joke revolves around the fact Lico is a waitress who speaks Kansai-ben. In this scene, she's offering ぶぶ漬け (a dish of tea & rice) to Momo as she enters the cafe. But in Kansei-ben that's basically code for "get out".

Yahoo! My buddy who owns a card shop was generous enough to set aside one of the Gundam card cases that come with the EX Base & Resource promos!! They are so hard to find! I got second place at locals tonight. Super excited for the booster release tomorrow!!

First starter deck tournament went pretty well! I lost in the last round and got knocked out of prizing, but I was just happy to get the promos. No LR+ cards, sadly, but I was happy with the foil Athrun!

We did it! No deck box though, which is big sad because I really wanted the promo EX Base and EX Resource it comes with, but I’m hoping to find another store that will have some over the next week.

Well, almost a decade since I picked it up at a secondhand store in Japan, I finally put in the time in to beat SRW K! It was pretty fun overall, but I invested a lot in Zoids units which hurt when the final stage was in space lol. Top Aces were Daiya (Gaiking The GOAT), Ruji and Mii.

Great news! The subtitled version of Lazarus is going up on Max sooner than expected! Episodes 1 & 2 are available now with more to come! Still a bit of a delay, but much better than a whole month behind.

As usual, don’t blindly trust whatever “news” you see going around that’s based on someone’s summary of Japanese interviews. This is framed in a very provocative and clickbait way, which doesn’t accurately represent what was said.

In light of the premiere later tonight, I'm beyond excited to announce that I am the translator for LAZARUS! Shows like Bebop and Champloo were definitely an influence on me growing up, so it's a huge honor to have my name attached to a project by THE Shinichiro Watanabe. Definitely check it out!
