I’ll ride in the back with the livestock any day to save a couple hundred bucks, though I’ll concede the feed bags used to be better.

Personally I think it’d be easiest to offer Aldi or Lidl a few tax incentives and have them strategically drop a dozen stores around the city to fill in the gaps.

…produce, premium cuts of meat and seafood, or specialized bakery items. They buy the basics, therefore the profit isn’t enough to support private companies’ investment. However, gov’t doesn’t need to make a profit, and can satisfy the needs quite well if they bring in some ‘grocery’ people.

Lifelong retailer here. Grocery is a low-margin business. In a typical store they make profit ‘on the walls’. Floral, produce, butcher, and bakery are all along the perimeter with the loss-leading staples in the middle (for the most part).
Poor folks don’t regularly buy the more expensive organic…

Also the last generation that was allowed the freedom to get hurt (no helicopter parenting).

I think Millenials in the old Soviet Bloc countries are a similar cohort, btw.

GenZ and Millennials are more socially and culturally progressive, which is great, but overall I think they’re a bit ‘dumber’.

Only one (American) generation spanned the years from the dawn of computers to what I think was the peak of technological development in 2014. (It’s been downhill since)
Plus our parents were from the last generation that had to know how to do all kinds of stuff to survive.

The irony of course is that Black Americans are probably far more likely to be descended from people who lived in North America before 1776 than white Americans are.

And we shouldn’t seek that level of engagement only in an election year. It should be systemic. Ideally by expanding the House, but could be done through other means.

I’d suggest teams of operatives in every state who just go around talking to normal people. Annual cost: $5-$10M, info: priceless.

Well yeah, of course.

But one cannot adequately deal with the criminal aspect without understanding the psychological.

It doesn’t absolve the crimes.

But should we be surprised that this keeps happening when all the focus is on societal/criminal punishment with none in education and prevention?

Incorrect. I grew up in the South and have lived the past 25 years in the North.
The racism of the south is only distinguished by the laws implemented to control blacks/slaves due to their higher population.
With the great migration northern states eagerly embraced the same restrictions.

Agree to an extent regarding contact offenses. However, >60% of offenses are non-contact, usually internet-based.

The fact that all the ‘-philias’ are recognized as mental illness in the DSM-5, suggests there must be a course of treatment/punishment to allow an offender to be square with the house.

Also good to keep in mind Bill hasn’t been a marquis name of support for Dem candidates since.

Basically pigeon-holed for niche audiences and to keep him busy…and quiet.

He’s an inconvenience and Dems know ‘who’ he is, so yeah, if he’s guilty of something, screw him.
