The IRS is expected to fire upwards of 6,000 employees as early as today.

This will mean fewer audits for rich tax dodgers.

According to U.S. Treasury estimates, the top 1% underpay their taxes by $163 billion every year.

The World Bank estimates the energy transition will require more than three billion tons of critical minerals by 2050.

For many governments and businesses, the answer is obvious: more mining.

Environmentalists have a different answer to the problem of supply: urban mining.

Happy #worldsoilday! Aside from Thanksgiving, its my favorite holiday. As such, I will be posting, perhaps even a lot.

For starters, here's a Fibrist (Fibrisol in the CSSC) found in a bog in northern BC. The bottom layer of this core is clay that was deposited just after the last Ice Age.

Does anyone else feel like pens are both sentient AND fickle? Sometimes a pen will run out of ink and then I'll pick it up a long time later and it's just bursting with ink. I feel like they can't stand being used as a writing utensil and then after neglect, decide they would actually prefer it.
