The word “legend” is way overused but not in this case and the bass playing of Cecil McBee is outstanding.

The tracks on this CD are likely from the same session, packaged differently and other tracks added.
Concierto De Aranjuez is the standout – 19 minutes of bliss. It rivals Miles Davis’ version on Sketches of Spain IMO.

Soul Jazz by Something Else! was recorded at the Smoke Jazz Club in New York earlier this year. All the Smoke Sessions are well worth checking out but this lineup romps it in! #jazzsky
