Have to admit I didn’t know what this novel was till quick googling it lol. Imo snap judgment- more relevant than Virgil’s poem due to nature of a modern comms political society & state, but still much more of historical interest than any real significance.

I can accept claims that Virgil’s use of Latin is exceptional. Given this, Imo unless one is reading him in Latin with the prep to appreciate this, I don’t see great merit in directly engaging with the work.
Regarding dissent, ig I don’t find flaccid, ambiguous dissent noteworthy or praiseworthy
