I totally align w/what you said about “exposing students to a wide array of career & educational options via career fairs, mentoring and hands-on learning from an early age” that will “spark curiosity and ignite ambition,”. This is MY WHY & has been the entirety of my prof. career as an educator.

As a (district-winning) XC coach, I encouraged my runners to ‘run YOUR race’ —> ‘always push yourself to do your absolute best & you’ll always win by learning & getting better.’ TTE, I do not compare myself to others. I compete against who I was yesterday. #DontLose #Grow #GrowthMindset #RedefineWIN

Agreed. Can’t wait to watch my niece and her friends make up new games and songs while running around and not having a care in the world.
Watching little kids play is both fascinating and soothing at the same time.

Struggling Ss will continue to struggle when no sustained effort addresses WHY they CONTINUE to struggle. Ditching conceptual understanding in favor of “drill & kill” rote memorization perpetuates classism & low socioeconomic status. #BlackEduSky #EduSky #iTeachMath #STEMeducators #PodcastWorthy

Looking at recent TIMMS data, I want to get specific about the yrs 2007-2011 and 2011-2019’s lost ground. Since time only moves forward, how are we going to fix this WITHOUT lowering educational standards? Can anyone say #TeacherEfficacy? #EduSky #BlackEduSky #iTeachMath #PodcastWorthy

This is a slippery slope indeed. First states. Now curricula. Who’s next? Teachers? Is this how we hold everyone accountable moving forward? #EduSky #BlackEduSky #ELARTeachers #ALLEducators #PodcastWorthy

Me 🙋🏽‍♀️!! Anyone else has to have subtitles on any show they’re watching?
Subtitles aren’t just for deaf or hard of hearing players. They’re important for players in loud environments (who can’t use headphones), non-native speakers who rely on text to follow dialogue, and many neurodivergent folks who struggle to focus or process audio quickly. Just to mention few.

😍😍The “unboxed” method of partial quotients!! What an interesting way to connect division as the inverse operation of multiplication to those Ss who initially struggle with traditional algorithms. So excited to show this to my colleagues tomorrow! How cool!! #iTeachMath #eduSky
I've learned that this "new way" of doing long division has been called "new" since at least... 1706.

I got 32 and am definitely Sho’nuff Southern. But some of this food I tried I’d dare not eat today as a consenting, healthy adult who wants to live past 90 years old!!
How Southern Are you??? #blacksky

When my 12yo twins started reading less because of middle school vibes I installed the Libby app on their phones, connected it to all three NYC library systems, and bought them a subscription to Shonen Jump.

They have since read hundreds of manga—HUNDREDS.

Place books wherever they are.
