I know this is not a unique observation but public health was basically created to deal with the Spanish flu, and then a century later COVID hit and killed twice as many people and our response was to destroy public health

Dee Farmer filed suit in 1989 to stop the sexual and physical abuse she faced in prison. We took her case all the way to the Supreme Court, who unanimously ruled in her favor.

Tens of thousands of lawsuits have since cited the case when challenging cruel and unusual punishment in jails and prisons.

In Farmer v. Brennan, Dee Farmer paved the road for tens of thousands of people to sue the government for a wide range of prison and jail issues.

BREAKING: Congress just gave final approval on a budget bill that guts Medicaid, defunds Planned Parenthood, and supercharges funding for ICE.

We the people will bear the brunt of these harmful policies — and we won’t forget who caused this devastation to our health, rights, and dignity.

We now have a concentration camp in Florida.

Stop pretending any of this is normal.

If you claim to be a good person and you're not outwardly opposing this regime, you're not a good person.

If you’re attending the White House Correspondents Association dinner tonight, be sure to come prepared with a joke about the toddler cancer patient they just disappeared despite her being a citizen.

Otherwise it’s going to be awkward when you’re mugging for photos with Stephen Miller.

Of note: Gavin Newsom just issued a major return to office order for California state empoyees. These kinds of mandates hurt ALL workers and, ultimately, their workplaces as well by pushing great people to resign.
If the pandemic represented a moment when we could reframe the way we view accommodations and disability in the workplace, the window of opportunity seems to be rapidly closing. @sesmith.bsky.social on how rushing back into offices hurts disabled workers.
