Sun Country will begin MSP-TUL on May 21, 2026 with twice weekly service. Currently unserved by Delta but would expect them to follow suite in a few weeks.

MSP-ABQ/OAK/SDF have been removed from future schedules.

MSP-AVL makes a return during the summer months after Allegiant exits the route.

MSP loses their third domestic airline in 14 months.

- Allegiant
- JetBlue
- Spirit

American, Frontier, Southwest, Sun Country (hub), and United are all down 10%-20% in Q4 2025 compared to last year.

Delta remains flat in Q4.

Sun Country is now selling flights on their 737-900s. Flights look limited to their core stations (MSP-RSW/MCO/etc.)

SY opted to go with 189 seats, only three more than their 737-800s according to seat map.

Delta will not be the only airline to announce LAS cuts in the coming weeks.

ICE needs to buy a fleet of aircraft? Spirit needs money and has a bunch of CEOs. Hmm…

Delta pulling MSP-TQO is an amusing one if you follow the battle of DL/SY in MSP.

DL started TQO in Dec 2024. SY, who flies MSP-CUN up to 5x a day, did not follow DL into the market.

Would SY now consider it for winter 2026-27? There’s a good chance if rumors of TQO MRGs are true.

With Allegiant’s schedule extension, they are now planning to be down in capacity each month in early 2026. Capacity is published down 8% in Mar & Apr.

For Mar & Apr, G4 will be 9-14% smaller in all of their main FL bases except FLL, where they are up 11-13%. This puts even more pressure on NK.

Spirit removed 37 routes from its September schedule this week.

September capacity cuts by station:

-45% ATL
-23% DFW
-18% ORD
-17% EWR
-12% DTW
-12% LAX

Spirit is now down 21% versus September 2024.

All but one route return in October.

OAK has changed its name for the second time in as many years.

It will now call itself Oakland San Francisco Bay International Airport instead of San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport.

JetBlue with this week’s largest Fall cuts w/ 6% of capacity pulled from BOS, FLL, & MCO in September.

Sept Capacity vs 2024:

AA: -1%
AS: 0%
B6: -4%
DL: +2%
F9: -10%
G4: +5%
MX: +65% 😳
NK: -15%
SY: -18%
UA: +6%
WN: -1%
XP: 0%

Really far out there, but Bahamasair has removed flights for a few routes after Feb 2026:

MCO-NAS
MIA-NAS
MIA-ZSA (San Salvador, Bahamas)

The only U.S. route loaded after February for Bahamasair is FLL-NAS.

Interesting fact: San Salvador Airport is also known as Cockburn Town Airport.

Damn. This is bad.

Southwest Airlines with the most tone deaf marketing post I’ve seen in a while.

The replies by their Social Media team in the comments are only making it worse too.

Looks like Avelo sent this 737 to DHN for a whiteout paint job May 7-14 before it started operating ICE deportation flights.

Guess it knows that having its full consumer facing livery operate ICE flights is damaging to the brand.
😲 Guys, Avelo painted their ICE jets all white! The tail number matches. How pathetic is that? 👀

Alaska with the ‘big’ Fall cut this week. Down 6% (not including HA down 3%).

Nov Trims:
LAX: 12%
LAS: 10%
SEA: 8%
SFO: 8%
PDX: 6%

PDX still up 15% YoY. LAS up 12%. SEA flat. SFO down 9%.

Alaska still up 5% in capacity YoY.

Spirit has joined the world of virtual interlining with Dohop Connect.

This does not require “a deal” between airlines as is being falsely reported.

Sun Country has fares via Dohop Connect. Now Spirit has joined, and I suspect this is why SY destinations are appearing on Spirit’s route map.
May 30, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Sun Country might be exiting GRB, MLB, & PBI.

None have schedules available for sale in their schedule extension, which goes through April 2026.

Air Canada has cut a number of U.S. routes from future schedules:

DTW-YUL
IND-YYZ
MSP-YUL
TPA-YVR

American Airlines cut 10% of its September capacity this week.

Though it’s historically a slow month for air travel, that’s a huge warning.

American Airlines has to have the worst hubs for long taxis; CLT, DFW, and ORD.

Spirit Airlines will be partnering with Contour to provide service to top leisure destinations.

Sounds like Spirit and the new CEO are already taking a page from the Sun Country/Eau Claire playbook.

Airlines continue to trim late summer capacity. In the past few weeks August cuts include:

-AA: 5% of network capacity
-F9: 13%
-G4: 7%
-SY: 8%
-XP: 5%

Allegiant is either pulling out of MSP earlier in August or starting its hiatus a bit earlier. AVL and TYS will both end earlier than previously scheduled.

Degrading fares are leading to lower revenues for airlines. Lower revenues means less tolerance for money losing routes and less time for a route to develop.

This trend will continue from small to mid-sized carriers through the summer.

#Avelo Airlines did major damage to their brand by flying deportation flights for the government.

Now, deportation flights have been halted by SCOTUS.

Avelo made a significant miscalculation. Their Head of Brand, Chief Communications Officer, & General Counsel should have known better.
