For millions of older Americans, political coverage of age and cognition isn’t partisan theater — it’s a mirror they never asked to look into.

Flying into Tampa Bay never gets old. It's one of the most beautiful flight approaches in America. The Bay is blue, sunny, and warm today. Can't wait to feel the warmth of the sun on my face.

Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon, Trump pardoned his pals in crime and extended family, Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich. Joe Biden pardoned his son a drug addict and a liar.

Every President compromised the rule of law in their own unprincipled way. No one from Flint, Michigan, was pardoned.

This essay misses on historical context but is an excellent review of the state of the juvenile sentencing law. In the 1990s lots of states enacted harsh sentencing laws for juveniles. The article explains the unwinding of those excesses. Costs of long-term incarceration is missing here.

Detroit Zoo Christmas lights is a fabulous diversion from endless televised football games. Enjoy the colorful walk and a warm drink.

I served as a US ambassador and know hundreds of others

Never met one before who hired a prostitute to seduce their brother-in-law or sent a videotape of the encounter to their sister

Or who committed 18 felonies & was pardoned by another in-law

I guess the job qualifications are changing…

She also wrote: “I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth.”

In its 98th year, the annual Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit is firmly a part of Michigan culture. It's televised nationally.

The parade celebrates all that Detroit and Michigan are proud of: the auto industry, great health care, its music scene, and its future.

It's a fine sight to see.
