I bought a $7 tree and it was so cheap I feel like the Charlie Brown Christmas.

If I won the lottery, there would be signs.

The laser is now setup in my garage, using a exhaust box I created to fit under the garage door seal. It works, but I need a more powerful fan to pull away the smoke. But I was able to cut some acrylic pieces.

I’m designing an exhaust vent that will let me use my laser in the garage without having to block or modify the door. I’ll have to see if it restricts the blower or I might need more positive pressure.

Thanks to Daniel V for coming up and helping me rearrange and organize my garage so I could get my mom’s car in with extra space. I finally got my laser setup with the iMac with lightburn.

The panel mounts that you can generate with the OpenSCAD, there is 4 of them per panel. The corner connectors have flats that the panels rest on as well. It’s kind of difficult to align everything.

My first shelf using the RAD system. Entirely plywood tiles, 3/8in dowels, screws and parts printed on the Positron.

My positron has been printing some practical prints around the house. Come to 3D Printopia and you’ll see me wearing it on my back all weekend.

All you need is a miter saw and patience.

If Jim Henson licensed acrylic sticks as a Fraggle Rock toy, I would have been all over it as a kid. The closest we had was the coolest Lego sets though.

I might have been inspired by the Doozers from Fragle Rock quite a bit on this one.

The Positron has been busy printing something RAD.

A good design exercise for @openscad.bsky.social is to make makerchips, SVG import, text linear_extrude, and shape iteration. Don’t have an MMU/AMS? Just manually swap filament for the first and last layers with your pop color. Of course this can all be done in the slicer.

I got my first level of shelf, I’m getting dowels as I can (local hardware stores don’t carry a lot of them and I can’t afford to buy them all at once). It’s a good proof of concept though. I think it’ll be more stable with plywood screwed on top.

I shrunk the dodecahedron to a manageable size. I also started building my entertainment center to perfectly fit the bay windows. It’s not the cheapest option for custom shelving, I realize 2x4’s would be the cheapest and sturdy but now I’m committed.

Just for fun I set $fn = 8 and made an octagonal version. I would need to go in an change the facet count variable for each object to make this actually work with round dowels.

Little update to RAD (Rod Assisted Design) OpenSCAD, angle array list. I realized I would eventually need non-uniform angles it wasn't too difficult to update. I also did some small fixes to other features so far. Also I created a large dodecahedron. github.com/themitch22/R...

I’m currently making the dodecahedron now.

Here’s a teaser for a project I’ve been obsessing over recently. I hope to have it ready for @3dprintopia.bsky.social next month @openscad.bsky.social

Long live the crack lighter (blue flame torches) good for drugs and clearing clogs in expensive high flow ObXidian nozzles.

I was able to fit mostly all of my stuff in my new room that I want for making projects. The goal will be live streaming easily without having clutter everywhere. I’ll have to think vertical spaces like my last apartment, maximizing surface area. I also have half a garage for laser/wood/metal work.

Polycam on the iPhone is wild! I just scanned this floor plan in a few minutes. This is why I wanted a lidar in my pocket. If any android phone had this tech, I’d probably switch over but this is the killer feature.

I’m officially in my new home! First thing I did was setup the internet, I’m on the floor building my desk and chair.

Anyone remember this game? It's on steam for modern pc's.

I finished my 10” LCD case. It was a fun mechanical design exercise and will be useful as a spare monitor. The buttons were a fairly tricky problem to get right, and nobody accounts for the space that wires take up. I added 75mm VESA mount spacing on back just in case.
