Re-introducing myself here. Hi, I’m Mitch (he/him) I’m most known for my 3D printer backpacks. You’ve probably seen videos of it or at the RepRap festivals/Open Sauce. I also was on Team XD with Subzero and Spitfire Battlebots 2020/2021 seasons. I enjoy digital fabrication and interactive exhibits.

I finished building my @prusa3d.com Core One+ from a Mk4. It looks really nice.

Clever @prusa3d.com Core One+ design. With 4 simple PETG printed parts, they were able to redesign the filament switch to disengage the ball detent, which usually restricts TPU. No extra hardware needed.

Finally after 6 months, I hung my reprack. I had to shorten it to 1.5m to fit above my desk. All of this I’ve acquired since I moved here, I guess working at a filament company isn’t too bad. @repkord.bsky.social

I'm installing motherboard drivers off a DVD. Yes, physical media drivers that come with devices in 2025.

I have a Blu-ray drive for perfectly legal reasons. 🏴‍☠️

I ended up getting a new mobo because the Alienware board complained and this was a cheap upgrade. It has ARGB headers and two M.2 slots. I did some extra wire management so it’s clean. It’s much quieter and cooler than the Alienware aurora case.

Am I cool now?

The M1 MacBook Air (that you can still get at Walmart) is an incredible deal. Light gaming, Fusion, YouTube. The screen is amazing, the battery somehow lasts for a long time, and it barely gets warm under load. I’m not really an Apple fan but they nailed the dedicated ARM processors for portability.

I’m transplanting my Alienware aurora R10 desktop into a better case with better cooling options. The AIO water cooling is getting old and getting louder so to get better cooling I went with a Fractal Design North case and peerless assassin air cooling. It’s way more accessible and maintainable.

My rite of passage becoming a North Easterner is buying a can of Old Bay and using it for everything.

Typical only child, played with lego sets by myself (apparently trading potty training for lego kits since diapers were more expensive). Fascinated with our first computer (486 built from hand downs). Dad did electronics and car/motorcycle repair in the garage so I learned early on.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

I'm preparing myself for all the youtube creators making 2 hour long compilation videos because the algorithm ignores their videos. I do appreciate the maker secret santa video series.

I bought a $7 tree and it was so cheap I feel like the Charlie Brown Christmas.

Roots by Imagine Dragons has one of the worst bass drum tracks I’ve ever heard. I get they’re going with the the drum and bass, distorted bass sound but the rhythm is awful and it’s cut off on purpose. Anyone else hear it too? youtu.be/e4RMh7NLHPY?...

So Prusa released their Open Print Tag standard for NFC filament management, if you look at the specs, it's an ISO/IEC 15693 NFC tag with a specific NDEF message format. One interesting thing is a reserved for transmission_distance for HueForge prints, and material properties specs.openprinttag.org

The laser is now setup in my garage, using a exhaust box I created to fit under the garage door seal. It works, but I need a more powerful fan to pull away the smoke. But I was able to cut some acrylic pieces.
October 10, 2025 at 2:14 AM
I’m designing an exhaust vent that will let me use my laser in the garage without having to block or modify the door. I’ll have to see if it restricts the blower or I might need more positive pressure.

Thanks to Daniel V for coming up and helping me rearrange and organize my garage so I could get my mom’s car in with extra space. I finally got my laser setup with the iMac with lightburn.
