Sawant's point about Americans suffering under Trump 2.0 is interesting to me, because if I'm not mistaken, she's of the mentality that the Dems and Reps are the same. Yet these mass deportations and Medicaid cuts are purely Republican policy. Almost as if it matters a LOT if the Dems are in power.

He decided to not run for re-election in 2022, citing these death threats. In general, the Republicans treated him like a traitor for stating the plain truth about Trump. The threats achieved their purpose: remove any anti-Trump dissent from the Republicans.

If Cassidy is serious about this, then he'll do the following:

1. Join Senate Dems in investigating RFK Jr.'s decisions at the CDC and NIH
2. Call for his resignation

Failing that, it's all just window dressing.

I think one thing I resent about the Dem establishment is that there's an undercurrent of entitlement among the old guard and its backers. And not just votes - I vote for Dems even when I'm mad at them - but time, labor, money. I think Mamdani genuinely appreciates what people have done for him.

Fewer moments have made me feel more betrayed as a loyal volunteer for the Democratic Party for the past 11 years than when Chuck Schumer overtly lied about what he was doing in the negotiations back in March. I genuinely thought about no longer volunteering for the WisDems after it.
