Data: Today's spoofed contact and the actual AIS track from 2021.

PNS Zulfiqar did transmit on AIS outbound from St Petersburg.

PNS Zulfiqar caught my eye as kind of strange to spoof into the Baltic but she did attend the Navy Day parade in 2021.

Lake Ladoga seems to have been covered by both events.

🔺OOA activty - Heads up!

Russian Navy Baltic Fleet tanker “Yelnya” is a strong candidate to conduct an autumn OOA deployment.

⚠️Alternatively, Yelnya could deploy more widely as part of a Baltic Fleet regional engagement TG.

Poseidon test related:

The special purpose submarine Belgorod, Poseidon trials support ship Akademik Aleksandrov and the auxiliary Zvezdochka was highly likely missing from their usual piers in Severodvinsk by the 23rd and high likely still missing on the 28th.

There has been some writing about activity in Nevada over the past few years. They aren't unprepared for an instrumented underground test there. The timeline doesn't have to be too long.

Would still be a grave mistake for the US to be the one to initiate a new era of live nuclear testing though.

If actual nuclear testing resumes, China is set to gain the most.
If any one of the "big three", US, Russia and China, tests, I think the other two will follow.

The US triggering a new era of live testing would be a mistake, regardless of which admin that makes such a stumble.

At the end, a small plea:

While Putin likes to talk about them, both Burevestnik and Poseidon are long running programs, novel tech, with test schedules likely not being dictated by current events so don't interpret everything as "nuclear threats" or nuclear signalling.

There are still a lot of unknowns here, with an important unanswered question being who was alongside in Severodvinsk or not. A question it might be difficult to answer because of the weather.

Final conclusions are premature, but a Kara Sea test is a possible explanation.

Why did I look here?

I've noticed something similar in this part of the Kara Sea before, in June 2023, and think there is at least a realistic possibility that this was Poseidon related too.

For yesterday, there were no apparent special activity in the White Sea.
