We have twins and woke up quite a few times to hear them speak in their own language on the baby monitor. Usually they would end up making each other giggle. AFAIK we don't have any of it recorded, which is too bad. It was incredible.

I like to see the pitching lab in his background. Given the resources major college baseball programs have now, I'm not too concerned about him not having much experience in pro ball.

Don't worry, be happy (to get away from that minor league bandbox in Sacramento)

I just assumed this was written by a younger person raised on the prequels. Dude is 67.

This is more about what the Royals are probably thinking. A year ago, I said I was "lukewarm" on India for Singer. I was a little more excited about Wiemer as a complementary piece for the roster/org than I should have been. And for all the despair about Singer getting blown up in GBA: 2.9 fWAR.

I recently heard an argument that shedding some players from the '22 draft was proof that the org had turned the page. Who was the Royals' GM for that draft?

Thinking about a Brendan Donovan trade recently, I couldn't help realizing that the Royals just did something similar & it didn't work. IMO Donovan is a better player & a better roster fit, but also would probably cost more in talent. India had 2.9 fWAR in 2024, Donovan had 2.9 fWAR in 2025.

So many took a nontender as a given but I'm not surprised at all. You can find reasons (& projections) to hope for a bounceback offensively, but the same things that made his acquisition a risk a year ago (meh 2B defense, power only played at GBA) are still here, & have been seen up close in KC.

Do you think you'll play it totally straight or be strategic and try to keep some guys on the ballot?

I saw Nimmo, another guy signed for 5 years, might be available. Kicking the tires, I'm not sure about it, even if the Mets eat the contract down to 5/75 & don't expect much in return.

Marte is better, but the cost is higher. You need to believe you're getting this Marte for at least 2 more yrs.

It's the time lag and the delivery method that has pushed it from mild enthusiasm to an obligation for me. The GoT comparison is apt- ending a series in large chunks runtime engenders a "Is this going to be worth it?" feeling in casual fans.

I will try to watch the new episodes, but I'm not planning to willingly plow through if I'm not enjoying it at all. My memory of the last season is that I don't really have one- it was a long time ago and didn't make an impression, so I also don't feel like watching anything prior to prep.

We have our own car-puking, counter-surfing, dive-bombing, 75 pound bull in a china shop shepherd mix. Here he is with our other dog, who has provided a year-long apprenticeship program to teach him some other bad habits.
