A lot of people around you are not going to have a firm grasp of international politics or of why Trump's actions are abhorrent, even though some people in and from Venezuela may express positive feelings about these events. Most people don't have a firm grasp of their own *local* politics.

Worth remembering: some of the most horrific policies in history were enacted through “proper” legal processes. The Nuremberg Laws were passed by a legislature. Jim Crow was law. Apartheid was law.

Obviously I’m not saying people shouldn’t fight this, in fact I think we all have an obligation to. But it’s actually clarifying, I think, to start from the reality that Dems actively do not want to do the things that we want them to do. They love ICE, fracking, the $1T military, and tech money.
