I was Chris Sabo for Halloween in 2010. Period goggles, vintage batting jersey: the whole bit. Fave reaction was a complete stranger at the very beginning of the night, maybe 6pm, at a restaurant where we were meeting our friends. Saw me from across the room, stood up and yelled, "SABO!"

Thank you. I was so taken with that photograph, I missed the link!

Hi. This seems unlikely. Those tapes would sound awful unless there was an engineer available to (first thread the tapes onto the decks, then) ride the faders for the duration of each track per a specific, time-based set of instructions. How did your listening experience work?

Fun that you had an interaction with Joel while he was there. I waited in like behind Nick Collison at Target once. Turns out those guys are pretty tall

Underappreciated cinematography. László Kovács (DP) also shot Easy Rider; Five Easy Pieces; King of Marvin Gardens; Paper Moon; Scorsese’s New York, New York; etc.

Amazing, thanks. Had a 70/30 chance of being the case. This thing is clearly meticulously researched but he isn’t afraid to dispense with fact in pursuit of a good tangent so I figured I ought to check in

Stoked. Gotta finish this first but that’s next

Brunch gigs are the best. I fondly recall seeing Shellac at a Belgian waffle breakfast at like 8:00am outside a barn in Columbia, MO

I’ve had this and Hyena in my head for, whatever, 12 days now. Beyond being great songs, they bring to mind Pete Buck jerkily sashaying across the stage with renewed vigor. Fun era.

IKWYM. This guy’s 14 now and starts high school in a week

I'm so glad that I revisited this a couple holiday seasons ago. First go around, I was underwhelmed bc I'd likely just finished either GR or V. and wanted *meat* in the way you want more bonkers Coltrane if that's all you know. Letting it come to me at its own pace this time was a real treat

There’s only one thing to do now. Say hello to whomever discovers this thread in 2045!

Only thing we could come up with was some combination of the band that laid down the 1964 Turning Point session (Bley, Gilmore, Motian, Peacock) augmented by subs, as needed 🤷‍♂️

I just asked someone the same question

Amazing. I still have the same promo CD of Weld that we played in store at the time. Never seen that Arc single before. Then again, those were probably created for radio rather than retail

Did you make that graphic or did WB actually issue promotional CDs for Arc? Either way, that’s fabulous

Love it. We seem to always find our way back to that one over here. Spent a lot of time with this one over the winter too. Had eluded me all these years owing to no domestic (US) release. Finally saw one at the right time.
