It would only take 10 Senators to call for a meeting with Schumer about his actions. They can call for his replacement. A simple majority of Senate Democrats would give us a new Senate minority leader. The new leader can whip the conference to vote no on cloture on that bill. no gov opening.

The fundamental reason "identity politics" is seen as bad is because neoliberal identity politics was tolerated while all the economic gains for the first half of the c20th were rolled back.

That's our sense as well, but we'd also bet they'll have a harder time evading surveillance now that many more people know what to look for. Given recent events in LA, seems we should be prepared for periodic resurgence of Bovino tactics anyway

I'm not sure how effective the rapid response teams will even be against the more subtle arrests by ICE. They were built to defend against Bovino.

The most optimistic read is that rapid response networks in place now will be better able to respond to the more targeted kidnappings and continue to jam up ICE whether BP is here or not. The most cynical one is that a lot of people will stop paying attention.

It's been rumored for a bit they would leave mid-November. It's not the weather, just the natural lifespan of a ~225 person operation.

Bovino left LA to come to Chicago and it's not like LA saw immigration operations stop - just less showboating from his crew. So even if these circulating rumors over the last week turn out real, I'm pessimistic about how much change to expect on the ground.
