Infectious disease physician and hospital epidemiologist at the Richmond VAMC in Richmond, VA, and assistant professor of ID at VCU. Way too junior to speak for the federal government. Cincy-bred, and UVA-, Duke-, and Stanford-trained.
If our main target is not associated with HO-CDI, it further brings into question whether this is a useful metric at all

I have no interest in being the gatekeeper of this, but providers should not be able to order a multiplex PCR panel unless they have some semblance of how to interpret the results.

From @drrossanarosa.bsky.social et al: Using in-house PCR for C auris screen, we observed ⬆️ rates of new colonization POA but have maintained stable rates of C. auris hospital-onset BSI. This suggests rapid ID and isolation can mitigate horizontal transmission of C. auris. doi.org/10.1017/ash....

It was a pleasure to work on this project with our ID pharmacist colleagues. AI has a lot of potential in this space, especially with the basic interpretation of data, but still needs human guidance to work through the complexities of patient management. Looking forward to doing more of this!

Great work by a great colleague! I hope more studies like this come out to help support high rates of childhood vaccinations, especially MMR.

Great work from current and former VCU fellows (with the lead author just casually mentioning it during clinic today!)
Plant-Based Diets & Climate Change, A Perspective for Infectious Disease Providers

We're looking for a new Division Chief in Adult ID at Stanford. We have a great ID/Medicine family here and the division has been growing by leaps and bounds. We also have great Pedi ID, Micro, Immunology and Transplant teams. Please share!

There have been some anxious times here recently, but it was nice to hear from one of my patients today that if I get canned by DOGE she’ll never come to the VA again #IDSky

It was great to hear Brad Spellberg review oral versus IV for treatment of serious infections again in the VIPTC webinar series. It was an excellent, data-driven lecture, as always, and I did not expect to also learn about pelycosaur osteomyelitis and historical purgatives! #IDSky

There needs to be a better understanding that when it comes to patients who report STI exposures, providers need to treat first and any testing is just confirmatory. This is especially true if the patient has already been hard to contact and get in for clinic follow-up. #IDSky
