We conducted a retrospective cohort study, to identify risk factors of post urological infections in patients with negative urine culture screening. Extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Shigella is historically linked to blaCTX-M-15 gene and sexual transmission. We describe a novel XDR Shigella carrying blaDHA-1 gene from two unrelated cases with unknown transmission route, signaling broader community spread in Los Angeles. doi.org/10.1017/ash....

A ceftriaxone safety alert prompted a review of significant events in relation to timing of cephalosporin administrations across a large health system. We found a low rate of significant ceftriaxone-related adverse events with a similar incidence as other cephalosporins. doi.org/10.1017/ash....
