Ah, I was spared those. I was largely an indie kid too but had had brushes with bits of electronica and club night. This album probably tipped the balance.

Sweet lord. I can still remember hearing Smokebelch II in Fopp in Edinburgh (when it was still just Fopp) and it was like someone had taken a tin-opener to my skull, emptied out what was in there and replaced it with shimmer. Bought the album on the spot and listened over and over.
