The kicker? The pool was city-owned. Like a lot of community infrastructure in Black neighborhoods (some of it seized during "urban renewal") city hall was happy to let it crumble but refused to let local communities fix it.

Under anarchy, people would just get together and fix the goddamn pool.

The culture of disposability around criminalized people set us up for this moment, and to fight fascism, we are going to have to rage against that culture of disposal. Submitting to it (or hiding behind it) is an egregious form of surrender.

There are no appropriate targets.

It's also hard not to conclude that Bluesky is a fascist project at this point. All this hemming and hawing about "death threats" they KNOW are jokes and not actionable, while allowing the US gov accounts to threaten people on the regular? The Charlie Kirk crackdown at the fascists' request?

It was his decision to allow sexually predatory behavior on here as long as the bulk of it occurs off platform. That's just a loophole predators know they can use.

It's hard to conclude anything else from Aaron's behavior. He jerks it to teen porn on the clock, he gaslights survivors into silence, he actively covers for pedos and their defenders. No normal or safe person behaves this way.

We see this today. People like Gavin Newsom are no true friends of queer liberation but, if they gain power, will only normalize antiqueer and trans politics while making performative gestures and rehetoric towards queer inclusivity.

It goes to show - Queerness disrupts the heteronormative, reproductive logic that underlies both fascism and liberalism. Even when fascism falls, liberal institutions still move to normalize the intensified persecution of queer people, because the same foundational assumptions remain untouched.

Many queer people were also denied restitution after the war because they were not considered victims of fascism - as only those targeted based on racial, political or religious grounds were considered.
