Let's do some quick math: $2500/yr x 18 years is $45,000. 18 years from now, that won't put much of a dent in the cost of college. It might pay for a year of tuition, if you're lucky, after paying taxes on the proceeds. This isn't about helping kids...it won't do anything to help kids
Do it for Trump: Treasury pushes businesses, wealthy people to contribute to 'Trump Accounts'
A pair of major contributions from business titans recently is part of a strategy to pump money into the new savings plans for children.

All these comparisons between the stupid Patriot Games proposal and these vastly overrated tween "novels" from 10+ years ago are dumb and counterproductive. This sort of lazy "well it seems a lot like this thing..." rhetoric deeply undermines the left's arguments and gives ammunition to the right.
I’m assuming that there will be no killing in Trump’s “Patriot Games,” but I guess we’ll have to wait until fall to see.
Trump just announced his own Hunger Games
In case you needed a reminder that we're living in a fascist hellscape.

The DOJ is openly trolling Congress and the American People.
And when you get the search function to work...
The Epstein Files, everybody!
December 19, 2025 at 9:34 PM
The DOJ should be held accountable for each and every withholding and redaction. Per NBC, in one court document included in the 16:30 EST "release" batch, literally every word of the 119 page document was redacted with the exception of the case name and filing number and a stamp authorizing release.
I guess Epstein isn’t in the Epstein files.

I can't say yet who I'll back in the primary for CA Gov, but I can say with utter conviction it will NEVER be Tom Steyer or Eric Swalwell. Not a chance.

I still am thoroughly dumbfounded how anyone who considers themselves a progressive or liberal can be a fan of tackle football at any level. The two are just wholly incongruous.

Bernie Sanders remains the epitome of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
NEW: A bill to give pediatric cancer patients better access to lifesaving drug treatments was one vote away from passing. Bernie Sanders cast the vote that stopped it.

Anyone who aspires to become a billionaire or who even merely accepts and maintains their status as a billionaire having attained that level of wealth (whether they actively sought it or not) cannot be a particularly wise, compassionate, nor empathetic person and is not anyone with whom I'd align.

Tom Steyer is a bigger clown than Gavin Newsom. I seriously hope we can find a way to do a lot better.

I love how we've advanced to a point where cell carriers can now identify incoming calls as Spam Risk, but they don't bother automatically blocking those calls. Like who actually wants to pick up a call that's already flagged as spam. I don't want to pick up any voice call, ever, but def not that.

Cool, I hope it goes the way of Twitter and becomes so glowing toxic in its ideology that it alienate and repels its Gen Z base and collapses into irrelevance. Maybe then we'll be able to make some progress in this country.

It's telling to me that the VERY same people who consistently argue that they shouldn't have to contribute to multi-generational progressive efforts as they won't live to see them come to fruition are more than happy to pursue things like Mars colonization, which may have equally long timescales.
