I had the instinct to check yesterday and even after seeing you hadn’t posted in a few days it never occurred to me that it would be because you’d left the world. You were so wonderful and I can only hope that you left knowing how much you meant to so many people. I will miss you forever.

I never stopped checking in here, pretty much for the sole reason to see what you had to say, even though I struggled to integrate this platform into my own routine.

I’m reading this, and sending it to my mom. Before my dad’s cognitive decline, bioluminescence was one of his special interests. He used to go out into the bush late at night with a UV torch to find bioluminescent rocks. His large collection is still in their basement 💔

Of course I aim to do different for my own child. But witnessing the purity of his relationship with my mother and how that differs from her relationship with me is sure fascinating.

It’s just a reminder of the pure, unabashed, unconditional love that only grandparents can have for their grandbabies… without the same spectre of disappointments and unfulfilled expectations that haunt the parent-child relationship.

This is such a familiar scene!!! Regularly I will wake from a dream I feel is remarkable for some reason or another and the moment I try to jot it down it disintegrates from memory. OR, if I do manage to write it down, I’ll go over the note the next day to find that it makes no sense whatsoever.

1/ Makes sense, thank you. I’m Canadian and nearly all of my family on both sides come from Scotland and Northern Ireland (where they were Ulster Scots)… so technically all from the UK. I’m referencing food I grew up eating here, using a term we learned in school.

I didn’t come here to start a fight. Please give me an appropriate term for the region of Northern Europe which includes The Republic of Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales and I will use that exclusively moving forward.

I haven’t had Black Pudding but my dad ate it growing up! But food from The British Isles is fine and good and I don’t get the hate! Like Sunday roast, Irish stew, Yorkshire puddings, shepherd’s pie…????

I’m very sorry but I am a stay at home mother on a limited budget and I have already donated to two families in Gaza this month, so I can’t help. I hope you find someone who can help you.
