Here’s an example! I actually thought in my half-asleep state that this dream would make a great song or movie.

I have to wonder if Gov. Hot Wheels was inspired by The Righteous Gemstones b/c a few days before that hit the timeline Jesse (Danny McBride) calls BJ (Tim Baltz) “Hot weels” in s04e03.

I used my ⚡️laser⚡️ machine to make some rubber stamps from my lil drawings the other day. Super cool and I think with some tweaks to my designs (no thin lines!!!) I will make these to sell eventually. Already designing a larger format Ex Libris/bookplate stamp.

Everyone talking about the tariffs, not seeing many talk about this…

We all know what Trump’s hair looks like when the wind has a go at it. But I wonder if that ~DaRk GoThIc MaGa~ hat would stay on or fall off.

Is my local curling club sending a message about the tarrifs?

Today’s existential skulls in India ink . Forcing myself to paint the negative space first.

I did my first grocery run aiming to buy as many Made in Canada products as possible. I think my only exceptions was sugar free rice pudding (made in Minnesota, non-negotiable. Sorry). These were my favourite Made in Canada discovery. A new flav that so good I’d rather have them than normal chips.

Also trying out this affordable Chinese brand, since I can’t get Holbein in Canada anymore 💔. It’s not bad !

Just doing little gouache sketches of skulls today to deal with the existential dread.

I’ve been preoccupied with my own image lately. I wanted to put these two selfies side by side. This is 20 years of aging.

I keep thinking of this painting. ‘Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan’ by Ilya Repin. He clutches his son, mad with grief after realizing he dealt him a fatal blow in a fit of rage.

I know. I saw someone reference how it’s like the executive order version of this debate strategy

I carry cash money so infrequently now that my wallet is just a tiny leather envelope designed for holding business cards.

One of my favourite paint brands is “temporarily” unavailable in Canada for the reasons outlined below. Can I just say, I spent my formative years inhaling leaded gasoline fumes and I don’t care and this is stupid? I actually like the small, nihilistic thrill of using toxic mineral pigment paints.

Just spending my evening in a totally normal way reading arguments about very important things on TikTok

Gouache has this property where if you paint wet over dry, you get hard, darkened edges. Hohlwein exploited this to add textural patterning to large flat panes of colour. But he also portrayed light beautifully.

Gouache is difficult as a medium for any type of realism lol. I usually use it to paint things in a rushed, cartoonish or stylized way. I would love to paint like Hohlwein (regrettably, he was a Nazi, but a master with gouache).

When I go too long without ideas I just force myself to paint something as accurately as I can. In this instance, my son, with gouache.
