Apparently, there’s a Crash Bandicoot cartoon series in the works at Netflix via Wildbrain Studios right now so there’s that. www.ign.com/articles/cra...

For now, this game is the closest thing that we would ever get to a new Banjo-Kazooie game.

Also I think the design on the right not only wanted to go for that classic Crash Bandicoot look but also wanted to make attributes that appeal to the Japanese audience. Which is why Crash 4: It’s About Time was the first Crash game to use the regular box art instead of using “Japanese Crash.”

There was also the failed cartoon pilot that was released and only aired once during the thanksgiving season in 1993. If the pilot had not been implemented in the PC port of the first game, the Bubsy cartoon would’ve probably be a “lost media” case topic like the “Saban Moon” Sailor Moon pilot.

Imagine when there’s ever going to be a Japanese release of this game and it parodies on anime titles like “Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan” and it’s called “Yamaneko Nokonoko Koshitantan” or something like that.

Can’t forget about the man of a thousand voices himself, Mel Blanc.

I can’t believe they put CaseOh into the game!

It’s literally the reason why we haven’t gotten a new F-Zero game outside of that battle royale game that’s graphically based on the first F-Zero game 2 years ago.

Thank you!

installments are the present day Reiwa period that started back in 2019 after Emperor Akihito had formally abdicated from the throne and Naruhito had taken over Akihito’s former position.

Bubsy I is the Meiji period, Bubsy II and Fractured Furry Tales is the Taisho period, and Bubsy 3D is the early Showa period (pre-WWII and Wartime era). The postwar/middle Showa period is The Woolies Strike Back and Paws on Fire. Then Bubsy 4D is the late Showa/Heisei period and it’s future (2/3)

We’re definitely living in very interesting times if Bubsy actually becomes a beloved mascot platformer if the series goes on well after the release of 4D. It really feels like looking at modern Japanese history in a nutshell (1/3).

It’s a risky investment, that’s for sure! I hope it pays off for them as well.

It’s probably because Atari bought the rights to the Bubsy IP back in 2023 after Accolade went bankrupt. And it’s one of the few IPs that the current iteration of Atari now owns.

I’m probably going to get banned from his livestreams but… CaseOh Cat

Namely the Sega version was never released there because the Mega Drive, apparently, was not very successful in Japan. It wouldn’t be until Crash Bandicoot that a Western-developed game series had seen any significant success in the Japanese market.
October 9, 2025 at 12:44 PM
And it was only the first game that got released there. Bubsy II, Fractured Furry Tales, and Bubsy 3D were never released in Japan and although there were plans for a Japanese version of 3D being released there, it never happened because of how much that game flopped.

Especially since Koizumi originally wanted to become a film director but instead he applied for Nintendo in order to pursue his goal of creating a kind of drama that are only experienced in video games. Nintendo’s close proximity to his university also played a role in his career choice.

I don’t know about you but the fur suit for Bubsy does look pretty cute. It’s like one of those “yuru-kyara” mascot characters that you see in Japan.

My favorite part in that video was the segment where Caddy plays the Cardcaptor Sakura game and in one instance of playing the game he accidentally takes a photo of himself with an anime girl while looking like he’s choking her.
